The sunshine and the climate, our geographical location, the type of soil and the geological composition of soils determine the qualities of our products. All the natural conditions are ideally suited for growing wine and olives and to manage the forests and pastures.
The mineral soils are of volcanic origin and have high tufa content. The layer of humus on top of them provides rich nutrients. The volcano’s slopes and our proximity to the lake determine the microclimate.
Our vineyards are all on south-facing slopes, which enhance the effect of the sun’s rays. During the night, Lake Bolsena cools the air considerably. This unusual difference between night and day benefits the wine and its acidity. The result is rich growth in plants in the spring and ideal ripening conditions in the summer months.
